McInnis could not sign his name and so his name was interpreted by whichever clerk was entering information at the courthouse. There are over a half a dozen interpretations of his name (including different spellings on the same deed), but Donald McInnis is his name on his will. At any rate this makes for a very interesting situation in trying to research the man. While these Biographies are just simple guides into the lives of lot holders, we want the most verifiable info possible. The bio in the Info Box Section on Donald McInnis (32) can be misleading and should be corrected.
Donald MacGinnes, purchased Lot 23 for 7 pounds from Hector Mclean on 1/7/1788. A couple months later, Lot 28 was purchased by Donald McInnes for 7 pounds 15 schilling on 3/3/1788 from James Sharp. Both lots were registered on 5/25/1790. At that time the clerk must have entered them out of order making Lot 28 McInnis’ first registered lot. The correct dating information is contained in the Lot Owner List and is verifiable by deed.
